We are looking for a Development Manager

Location: Toronto/Hybrid

This position is suitable for applicants who have 5 – 10 years of work experience as well as for more experienced applicants. This position will work closely with the Managing Director to support the company’s growth. In this role you will secure land rights in key Canadian markets, including British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario, with a view to securing new land rights in Atlantic Canada. You will coordinate permitting activities, manage consultants, lead stakeholder engagement activities and support all aspects of project development for the sites that you originate.

An individual that can support the Managing Director with the following tasks:

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead staff and potential partners in the acquisition of land, development services, engineering, permitting of wind, solar, and storage projects across multiple Canadian markets.
  • Manage relationships with government entities, and third-party consultants to meet all land use, interconnection, PPA and permitting requirements.
  • Develop project development plans, schedules, budgets and ensure projects are on track through all phases of the development cycle.
  • Manage internal approvals and brief management on project development activities weekly.
  • Lead RFP submissions across the country and work with the team to respond with proposals, pricing, term sheets, issues lists, and necessary material documents.
  • Lead negotiations with Landowners to secure land for Renewable Energy projects.
  • Manage all stakeholder engagement activities including open house presentations, chairing meetings building relationships to ensure the company’s projects are successfully approved by regulators.
  • Engage and build relationships with key First Nation communities impacted by the company’s development activities.
  • Prepare management presentations on project opportunities, development status and project economics.
  • Support initiatives to inform reconcept’s development strategy in key markets across Canada.
  • Work cooperatively with other groups within the business, both in Canada and Germany as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

  • A minimum of an undergraduate degree in either engineering, business, environmental sciences or Geographic Information Systems (GIS), with a preference for graduate level credentials.

Minimum Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 – 10 years of experience in related project development.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure project development, permitting and regulations.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully permitting projects through the development life cycle.
  • Familiarity with land lease agreements, and regulations as they relate to renewable energy project development.
  • Strong knowledge of the IESO, AESO, BC Hydro and other provincial regulators.
  • Previous experience negotiating, identifying leads, and tracking progress in land negotiations or other stakeholder related engagements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products especially Excel.

  • Strong organizational, analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated work-ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Strong interest in renewable energy technologies and developments in the industry.
